April 1, 2021Congratulations to Patrick Gelbach for successfully passing his Ph.D. qualifying exam. Pat is now a Ph.D. Candidate!
Patrick’s Ph.D. research will apply constraint-based approaches to develop a genome-scale metabolic model of macrophages in the tumor microenvironment of colorectal cancer. He proposes to construct models of pro- and anti-tumor macrophages, with the goal of elucidating differences in their flux distributions. Understanding those differences can contribute to better treatment for colorectal cancer. This work builds on Patrick’s previous modeling of intracellular metabolism.
