Professor Finley was selected to receive the 2025 Mid-Career Award from the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES). The BMES Mid-Career Award recognizes a member in good standing who has demonstrated significant leadership and achievements in biomedical engineering. These achievements may be in scholarship, education, mentorship, leadership, or the practice of biomedical engineering.

Prof. Finley received the award at the 2025 BMES Annual Meeting held in San Diego, CA October 8-11, 2025. BMES President, Dr. Shelly Sakiyama, presented the award, followed by an award lecture given by Prof. Finley.

Prof. Finley was also able to donate 200 sets of the STEAM children’s book series, including the “Data Science” book that she wrote. Attendees were able to take the books back to their family and communities, providing greater visibility to scientists of color.

This award is wonderful recognition of an impactful research career, thus far!

HUGE congratulations to Professor Finley!!
