Professor Finley attended the Annual Meeting of the Society for Mathematical Biology (SMB) in Salt Lake City. At the meeting, Dr. Finley received the inaugural Leah Edelstein-Keshet Prize. The award is named in honor of Dr. Edelstein-Keshet, the first female president of SMB. This year, the award recognizes a woman assistant professor who “is making exceptional scientific contributions to mathematical biology, developing a strong independent research program, and exhibiting a continuously high level of scientific endeavor and leadership.”

Dr. Finley gave a plenary talk at the meeting, entitled “Predicting the angiogenic state in breast tumor tissue: Insight from systems biology.” Dr. Gerda de Vries, a previous SMB president, awarded the prize and introduced the presentation.

Congratulations, Professor Finley!
