Professor Finley gives keynote talk in Academic Workshop

Professor Finley was invited to give a keynote talk in the Virtual Academic Workshop, organized by Prof. Andrea Armani, USC Viterbi School of Engineering! Faculty of all career stages from top institutions across the US participated in panel discussions to address issues facing trainees considering an academic career or applying to positions this year, as well as early career faculty establishing their lab.

Prof. Finley opened the 2nd day of the workshop, with a talk entitled “What is success?”. She gave her perspective of the aspects involved in achieving promotion in an academic career. Prof. Finley provided advice on what it takes to succeed and how to avoid missteps. With examples from her own career (including stories of failure!), Dr. Finley aimed to give some insight about how to improve the chances of success.
