Professor Finley gives keynote talk in Academic Workshop

This fall, Professor Finley had the opportunity to connect with K-12 students and discuss mathematical modeling! Through the Joint Educational Program (JEP), Prof. Finley spoke to 2nd-5th graders to explain how computational models can help in everyday life. With applications ranging from cancer growth to the spread of disease, Prof. Finley discussed how a model is built and the benefits of modeling. Dr. Finley led the students in an activity to show the power of models.
And even in a virtual format, the students were excited and engaged!
